The Mists Have Cleared........Unfortunately!

Its an odd feeling when you've got yourself ready for a specific thing to happen when your going to head out with the camera, for it to not appear then you find yourself wondering 'what next?'.In this case,id had thick fog for the previous two mornings when i wasn't able to get out to take photo's (more commonly known as sod's law) but had the next day ready to capture some mist covered landscapes.I'd convinced myself that's what id get and even based my locations on this factor. There's a saying that goes 'If you dont want to ruin your ideas then don't tell life your plans'.Well in this case that was very true.Id got up early and headed out,but to my disbelief there was a mere sparrows fart worth of mist in sight.I had my 'what now' situation, but threw caution to the wind and headed out anyway. The Mundesley Golf Course isn't far away from me and with its sweeping hills and manicured fairways,it was always somewhere id wanted to cover in my photo's.Now for obvious reasons, you cant just rock up on the 8th hole in the middle of the day with you camera on tripod and just start taking pictures.Your chances of getting hit by a high velocity golfball are greatly increased and the golfers themselves aren't best pleased with the coverage, because saying to them 'Don't worry about me,carry on as normal' doesn't quite cut it.I arrived about 30mins before sunrise and was greeted by a serene sky.Its like life had said 'sorry, were all out of fog today but here's a pink sky instead for your trouble' and it was greatly received.Afterwards i headed down into Mundesley itself to make the most of the trip.I tried my hardest to refrain from taking seascapes but seeing a lone fisherman set up on the sands was just too tempting a subject. As i've said in previous posts, people are normally a unwelcome distraction in my pictures but in this instance i think they made the pictures what they are.

Lets Play A Game...

As much as i enjoy my landscape work, its always nice to have a change and try other styles.Ive always liked still life photography, its the challenge of taking everyday objects and making them interesting and seeing them from a different perspective. Its funny how the things we overlook on a daily basis can make intriguing subjects, with just abit of imagination.Still life is also a favorite because on days when its cold and wet outside, you can do your photography from the comfort and warmth of your house and everything you need is there, all you need is the imagination to create something different.Alot of people would have an idea all ready to try but i prefer to hoard aload of items first, like some treasure bandit then i usually find that i start to get ideas and just try out different arrangements. Its alot of trial and error really but its the excitement of starting off with alot of innocuous items and then seeing what you've created at the end of it all.

What Have You Been Feeding It???

These sets of pictures were taken over 2 days and shows how the weather can change so quickly from a blanket of grey cloud to the sunshine breaking through with blue skies. Both days started off very uninviting but developed into beautiful afternoons. At this time of year you get a lovely golden light across everything and it just makes your pictures feel warm even tho in reality its bloody cold! Its always a treat when your out walking and you get some animals to photograph as there such characters, there always intrigued to know what your doing (or in reality there thinking you've come to feed them) The bulls you see in a couple of the pictures was taken with care. What is hard to show in the photo is scale and one of the beasts was huge,as in id wondered if it had been genetically modified using dinosaur D.N.A! Even more worrying was the small flimsy wooden fence separating me from them.I'm just glad i wasn't wearing any red as i had visions of a horror film, being chased across a field by this monstrous beast! They seemed quite happy to have there photo taken but i was still ready to run the quickest mile of my life!

Fungus Fantastic!

I always love visiting woodlands in the autumn as it just explodes into a warmth of colour.Ive been around Bacton woods a few times over the years and at this time of year it never disappoints.Sometimes tho,its not about looking at the big picture but instead the small details. For instance,i was setting up a shot along a path and so got down low to get a different angle but whilst down there, noticed the mushrooms that you see and in the end they became my main focus points for the shoot.Im a big fan of macro photography and it was nice to be able to capture such a colourful and magical scene. The only downside was very dirty trousers from getting down amongst the action but its all worth it when you see the finished results!
