Splish,Splash...Beach Bath!
Ive traveled to Cromer,Norfolk on many occasions with the camera but this time i wanted to concentrate more on the traditions of this seaside town and more specifically the fishing boats.Theres always so many subjects to choose from and the fishermen are always active, weather it be coming back from a trip or getting ready to launch from the beach. This was given more of a twist as a caught a local painter set up on the sand with his easel, plying his own skills with the paintbrush.Normally id avoid having people in my shots but this time i felt it told more of a story to have him paint as he watched the boats come in.Seeing the old tractors parked down along the promenade just adds to the character and it was nice to not use the renown Cromer Pier as my focus points this time and try to show a different side to the town.I finished off with a trip to the lighthouse and for once it didn't rain when i got there so i see that as a win too, especially as you get the vibrant splash of colour from the yellow bushes that litter the clifftops.
Anyone Got A Light?
As the people who read this normally will know,Blakeney is a spot i've always enjoyed visiting even if the weather has been abit indecisive at times. This trip however was different as this was a night-time shoot.Like many places,it takes on a whole new character once the light fades and the illuminations of the buildings become the light source. This trip had initially been to capture a rare pink moon which happens very little but it did not appear so to plan B.The one thing with doing night-time photography in a city is that your never normally short of a light source to help focus on but out here was a little bit more trickier. If you were shooting across the quay towards the buildings then it was fine but to take in the rest was tough and made even tougher with the lack of a torch too. When placed in this situation tho, you have to make do and so our phones became the light.Another problem was that with such a lack of light it was also near impossible to compose the images so it was a case of taking a picture and then reviewing it afterwards and then recomposing if need be.It was a more complicated shoot then many others but in a way it makes it more rewarding to still come back with some great photo's.The moral of this story is....If your going to do night photography then take a bloody torch with you!

Ground Control!
I've written my distaste about the airfield near to my house before so i thought i'd make it work in my favour for once. The weather for the day had been gorgeous and after eating an amount of food that could of fitted in a dump truck,i thought it best to get some exercise and so take the trusted camera with me.In fairness i hadnt thought about going to the airfield as id spotted a oil seed field earlier on the day that had intrigued me.It was on the way back that i thought id pop by and see what i could snap some pictures of and i was pleasantly surprised. It was later in the afternoon and so the light was softer with a slight haze across which added to it all. There are some similar pictures in this set but i was trying out a few different styles on the edits. At least now when i hear that infernal buzzing noise above my head in the sky,i know exactly what it is causing it!
Garden Glory...
Now im one of those people that can be set in his ways and photography is no exception! This year tho,ive decided that i need to broaden my photographic content and you may of seen my portrait project from a previous blogpost.Well another area im looking at is commercial photography, which brings me onto this post.I'd been contacted to see if i'd like to do some pictures of a local Bed and Breakfast in North Walsham called Chimneys. Its a place i'd drove by many times but it holds a well kept secret. From the front its based on a main road but what many fail to realize is that it has a beautiful and large garden at the back of it.The owners have made there garden open to all its visitors and it has many different aspects to it which made photographing it an absolute pleasure and certainly had plenty to inspire me.I haven't done anything like this really in the past but again,it was a nice break from my usual work. The owners are pleased with the results so far, even if it did take a crack team of specialists to work out how to use a apple mac to view them.Im a windows man and the arduously long winded processes on the mac have confirmed to me that i've made the right choice for doing my processing as my computer would be in tiny little pieces had i been using apple, with me slumped in a corner talking to myself.
